The Crow Scare introduces a young, accomplished kindergarten teacher who lives a quiet, satisfying life with her prize beagle. Although actually quite attractive, her indifference toward fashion and appearance often defines her as a woman of average beauty, a label she is only too happy to wear. When she receives an anonymous Halloween card, a gift bearing homemade candy also materializes on her porch. A friend, convinced that the gift holds malice, calls the police and an investigation then ensues. As her quiet, monotonous life is laid open, she is compelled to face repressed memories from the past--memories that have unwittingly secluded her from genuinely enjoying her present and which preclude her from planning a truly gratifying future. As new people are introduced into her life, the teacher, whose goal it is to help caterpillars to become butterflies, eventually understands that she, herself, has refused to leave the cocoon.

The Uninvited

As Margaret Zeiler clings to cherished memories from her past, she finds herself wrestling with a growing uneasiness. Willing to make many sacrifices, she chooses to ignore that she often remembers things differently from the others that she works with. But soon she begins to doubt her very essence. When spiritual unity involves deception, tensions increase and her role as an outsider escalates. Her troubling dreams become her lifeline: sometimes the "struggle is not against flesh and blood" (Ephesians 6:12).

Odious Initiation is a collection of poetry that I wrote in response to spiritual abuse that I was a witness to. This particular church appeared to be Bible-based. But the more we involved ourselves, the greater our conflict. We found ourselves caught in a web of deception. When confronted, rather than offering to cut the web, the leaders instead invited us to join the spiders. We severed the connection but continued to witness cyberbullying, as well as manipulation. We counseled those who sought freedom and prayed for those who preferred the praise of men over obedience to God.

Is there Sugar in the Salt Shaker? is a Devotional Bible Study Booklet about Christians as the salt of the earth: Refined sugar, at first glance, can be mistaken for salt. If poured out onto a plate, next to each other, they look to be the same. Without some other means of study (such as a microscope), taste might be the only immediate distinction between the two.

If You Were the Child is a children's book that shares a child's view of nap or bedtime. The idea for this book came to me one night when my husband and I had experienced an exceptionally drawn-out bedtime with our son. He was three at the time. Every time we would place him into his bed, he would find an excuse to climb back out and come find us. The commonality that each of these visits shared was one, distinct question: "What are you doing?" Finally he went off to bed and fell asleep, and I wrote this poetic story.

Awaking the Sun

This book came to me originally as a poem. My son had been asking questions all day and finally asked why we eat chickens, or hens, but not roosters. This question stuck with me and soon I had written him a poem. Now this same poem has become the book, Awaking the Sun.
