Singer Songwriter

Foothills Alberta

Dianne Joy brings a distinctive low alto voice to original songs about the pleasures and quirks of daily life and relationships. Her songs reflect her time in life, her personal philosophy, and the Foothills community where she lives. During her performances, she delights in engaging audiences in stories, both spoken and sung. In one song, she takes listeners to a time and place that resonates with deep emotion for them. In the next, the audience is bursting with laughter at a song about the irony and nonsense of living.

Dianne Joy’s musical style is folk, grounded in the unlikely combination of old-time country, early Broadway standards, and pop hits from the ‘50s to ‘80s. Her musical appeal spans generations, with her performances balancing familiar songs with original material.

A writer by profession, Dianne worked for 30 years in communications and marketing, primarily with health, education, and seniors' organizations. After early retirement, she jumped into music with both feet, taking professional singing lessons, studying the craft of songwriting, and developing a unique style of her own. When the pandemic hit, she found a new platform through her website, DJ’s Music Studio, where she posts original and cover songs, and tells the stories behind the songs in a casual, engaging way. In May 2024, she released her debut single, Forest John Memory Waltz, with four more original songs expected in the upcoming year.

Whether performing on a stage or in a living room, Dianne Joy’s shows are always highly entertaining, and audiences leave feeling they have shared a special moment with her.
